Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments - San Francisco |

GeoSolve® was retained
by KELLCO Services, Inc. to perform
a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment on an older
building within downtown San Francisco, California. The
Phase I ESA was performed in less than two weeks,
and our findings indicated the building was formerly
used as a glass manufacturing and paint shop in the
late 1890s through the early 1900s and metals, VOC
and petroleum-hydrocarbon constituents may have been
present beneath the subject site. GeoSolve® contracted
with a State-licensed direct-push drilling contractor
to advanced eight borings to groundwater within the
building. Soil and groundwater samples collected
from the borings were submitted to a State-certified
hazardous waste testing laboratory for analysis. Laboratory
analysis of the soil and groundwater samples indicated
elevated concentrations of metals within the surficial
soil and groundwater. A technical report of
the field and laboratory methods and results was
prepared within two days of receipt of the laboratory
analytical results and submitted to KELLCO
Services, Inc. for review and approval. The
Phase I & Phase II ESAs were used to discourage
a KELLCO Services, Inc. client from
purchasing the property due to the high cost of remediation
and environmental liabilities associated with the
metal contamination.
